This month, we shine the spotlight on Senior Consultant, Kishan.
I joined B&B in March 2023.
I have three different roles at the firm. I am not only the Head of Tax Investigations, but also Senior Financial Consultant and Head of Stamp Duty Land Tax.
I studied Law at Coventry University. Following my graduation, I became increasingly interested in transitioning into tax law, as this involved ever-changing and complex legislation, which required meticulous navigation. My first job in tax was at a firm based in Leicestershire, where I first was introduced to property tax. After seven years in this role, starting as a junior, I eventually ended up heading up their Tax Investigations team. Working in Tax Investigations has allowed me to assist hundreds of clients with their ongoing HMRC enquiries all the way through to the First-tier Tribunal and beyond. The majority of these investigations related to property taxes, which allowed me to work with some of the UK’s most senior Barristers in the field. This opportunity allowed me to be involved in landmark SDLT cases.
I have two key specialisms. The first relates to Tax Investigations and litigation work, where I have gained an in-depth knowledge of HMRC’s internal procedures as well as the ability to assist clients with Tribunal appeal. The second specialism relates to property taxes, specifically Stamp Duty Land Tax (England and Northern Ireland), Land and Building Transactions Tax (Scotland) and Land Transaction Tax (Wales).
I like getting involved in training other members of the team. As well as, learning from other colleagues.
I am extremely delighted and excited by the opportunity to collaborate and discuss a wide range of issues in property tax with industry experts.

I like to start my day bright and early to allow me to be sharp for the workday ahead. As, I am very committed to my health and fitness, I tend to prepare my lunch the night before with clean ingredients to fuel me for my afterwork gym sessions. This routine allows me to stay disciplined and has further increased my energy levels.
I would love to start a restaurant that serves cleaner versions of popular dishes, to encourage others to start taking responsibility for their physical health. But probably my biggest dream for the future would to be to set up a dog rescue centre, rehoming less fortunate dogs to new happy homes.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, as I recognise the importance of spending time with loved ones. Especially, my darling Mother.
